share
TOJI, Inc. (headquarters: Setagaya, Tokyo; CEO: Natsuki Matsuda) has co-developed a new product, Sake Kasu Bath Powder SUIGEI, with SUIGEI Brewing Co., Ltd. (Kochi City, Kochi; President: Takahisa Takeuchi). It goes on sale on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, which is Bath Day (Furo no Hi) in Japan.

The bath powder contains about 50% SUIGEI sake kasu, produced while brewing junmai sake from Gin-no-Yume, Kochi's own sake rice, and pure, soft water. Combining sake kasu with sea salt and jojoba seed oil, it was developed so you can enjoy the gifts of fermentation from sake brewing in your bath. Through this collaboration, TOJI and SUIGEI Brewing propose a new way to enjoy sake kasu at bath time.
The product is the first in TOJI's Sake Brewery Edition, a series created with sake breweries and sake brands to share the stories of each brewery and the unique charms of its region. The sake brand's logo appears on a washi paper label on the front of the package, so you can sense the brewery's world and Japan's sake culture at a glance. TOJI will continue to collaborate with new breweries to bring sake kasu and brewery stories into the bath.

Background: Bringing Sake Kasu into a New Bath-Time Experience
Sake kasu, which remains after sake is pressed, is made from rice and rice koji and is one of the ingredients that best represents Japan's fermentation culture. It has long been part of everyday Japanese food, but because it contains moisture, it is difficult to store and distribute, and its value has not been fully shared.

SUIGEI Brewing sees sake kasu as a precious gift of sake brewing and has found new uses for it, from café menus to face masks. TOJI is a wellness brand that brings Japan's inherited wisdom of beauty and health into modern life in new forms, and makes bath powders with sake kasu.
One of TOJI's signature products, Sake Kasu Bath Powder MORI, combines sake kasu from a long-established brewery and natural salt with a blend of 100% natural essential oils, centered on hinoki cypress from the Niyodo River basin in Kochi, famous for the clear, mysterious "Niyodo Blue," and yuzu from Umaji Village in Kochi.
This connection to Kochi led TOJI to SUIGEI Brewing, one of the prefecture's leading sake breweries. Both companies shared the wish to bring the appeal of sake kasu into everyday life in a new way, and this collaboration was born. The product contains about 50% SUIGEI sake kasu. By turning sake kasu into a powder, it offers a new wellness experience that brings Japan's fermentation culture into your daily bath.
Looking Ahead: From Kochi to All of Japan, and on to the U.S.
Sake Kasu Bath Powder SUIGEI will be sold mainly at Suigei retailers across Japan, SUIGEI STOREs and both companies' online stores. The companies also aim to expand to ryokan and hotels in Kochi and to retailers of quality goods across Japan.
In fall 2026, sales are also planned in the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States. As a wellness experience that brings together sake, fermentation and bathing, three distinctly Japanese cultures, TOJI will share new ways to enjoy sake kasu with people overseas.
Since its founding, TOJI has pursued the vision of sharing Japanese tradition and culture with the world, developing wellness products from sake kasu, a fermented ingredient born from traditional Japanese sake brewing.
Starting with this SUIGEI collaboration, TOJI plans to grow the Sake Brewery Edition, sharing the unique charms of each region and the stories of its breweries. TOJI will connect the ingredients and culture of sake breweries and regions across Japan to wellness experiences for modern life, in Japan and abroad.

Comment from Hirokuni Okura, Head of the President's Office, SUIGEI Brewing
At SUIGEI Brewing, we see the sake kasu from our brewing as a precious gift and have been working on new ways to use it. Under the theme "Enjoy SAKE Life," we also propose rich lifestyles with sake.
We are delighted to have met the TOJI team, who recognize the potential of sake kasu, and to have created this product together. We hope it sparks interest not only in sake kasu and fermentation culture, but also in sake brewing and the rich natural surroundings of Kochi. We hope many people will enjoy a new form of "Enjoy SAKE Life."
Comment from Natsuki Matsuda, CEO, TOJI
I fell in love with Kochi's beautiful rivers, abundant water, deep mountains and wide green landscapes, and before I knew it, I was visiting again and again. I am very happy to have met the SUIGEI team in Kochi, a place I love so much, and to have created a product together.
As we worked through ideas and trial and error together, I saw their passion for craftsmanship and their refusal to compromise, and my wish to create something with them only grew stronger. I hope this collaboration helps people discover SUIGEI Brewing and the rich nature and culture of Kochi.
For us, it is also a joy to take the first step in our long-awaited Sake Brewery Edition series. I am very much looking forward to sharing the appeal of sake and fermentation culture with many people, together with the SUIGEI team.

About SUIGEI Brewing (suigei.co.jp)
The family began brewing sake in the Meiji era, reorganized as Suigei Shuzo Ltd. in 1969, and started producing and selling "Suigei." In Kochi, Suigei's home, sake has always been enjoyed together with fresh local food. The brewery continues to refine its skills in making rich, dry sake that pursues this Kochi style of sake for meals: a gentle aroma, a clean finish and full umami. In 2018 it opened a new brewery, Tosa-gura, which produces high-quality sake under thorough quality control and also offers brewery tours, tastings in its gallery, and sweets made with amazake and sake kasu. With the Suigei brand at its core, the company proposes lifestyles that include sake and keeps widening the circle of people who enjoy sake culture.
